THE HISTORY OF 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS
The tradition of setting off fireworks on the 4th of July began in Philadelphia on July 4, 1777, during the first organized celebration of Independence Day. On July 4, 1777, the first anniversary of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence from England was celebrated. Colonists all across the nation joined in the festivities. On that day, the first-ever recorded 4th of July party was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fireworks were launched, bells rang, and a parade was held. A 13-gun salute took place to honor each of the newly formed 13-colonies of the United States, and 13- firework rockets were set off in the town square.
If you’re looking to start your own 4th of July traditions, and want to include fireworks in your celebration, make sure you buy and set them off in one of the following cities where they are legal. If not you may be liable for a fine up to $50,000! OUCH! Under California Health and Safety Code Fireworks Penalties, Section 12700(B), a person in possession of unaltered dangerous fireworks in violation of the State Fireworks Law is punishable as a misdemeanor or a public offense with fines ranging from $500 to more than $50,000
